Today we are going to talk about marketing sins that you must avoid!

I want you to avoid them because if you don’t, your website will not convert, your ads will be sh*t, or anything that includes copy will be horrible.

I saw this ad copy yesterday:

“For crystal-clear vision, your view through dirty windows quickly becomes clouded when dust, streaks, and water spots take over. But don’t worry! With our professional glass cleaning service, we’ll make your windows shine like never before.”

Your brain hurts, I know.

Brother, they know about window cleaning—you don’t have to sell them on that.

What you’re basically saying is: “If you cut yourself, you’ll bleed.”

Investing in video editing or web design is awesome, but what really makes you money is your copy.

So now you’ll learn how to write copy that sells…

There are 4 things you must know before you write any copy:

  1. Are my ideal clients UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM that I solve?

  2. Are they PROBLEM AWARE?

  3. Are they SOLUTION AWARE? (People are aware of window cleaners to solve the dirty windows problem.)

  4. Are they PRODUCT AWARE? (Aware of your service. For example, everyone knows Coca-Cola exists—they just show that their product is the best with their ads.)

For example, the copy above is treating the readers like a baby.

The copy is moving them from Stage 2 to Stage 4.

What they should do is mention their service and add a discount, risk reversal, or something like that. They are already in Stage 3—you just need to show them why they should pick you.

This is one of the first battles you must win because if you don’t, your copy won’t sell.

First, figure out where your readers are and then move them to the next level—for example, from Stage 2 to Stage 4.

If you can do that, you will make money with your copy. But if you talk about Stage 2 and they are in Stage 4, you're treating them like babies.

If they are problem unaware and you speak about your solution, you won’t sell.

With the copy that you write for your ads, website, and blogs…You need to match exactly where your reader is…
